Let's say I've has chosen to cosplay a character with really long hair and need to find a wig for this costume.
I have two chocies:
1) Go with a wig that is shorter (still rather long by wig standards) and of high quality. It will not tangle nearly as badly and will stay in nicer condition at a convention, but will not be an accurate length to the character by any stretch.
2)Buy a long length wig that is not that nice of quality and will be very unmanageable (tangle easily) but will be correct in length for the character. It will probably look like a hot mess at the end of a day of wearing it.
I know if I go with my natural choice in a shorter length, I'll have to listen to at least a dozen people tell me it's not right (as though I'd didn't know LOL) at a convention and probably a few that will say it's outright bad on the grounds of inaccuracy. No sense in denying this is how the otaku community can be. Complaining is a nerd past-time after all. This hasn't stopped me before, though. I've made the choice to pick shorter wigs in the past and been happy with it.
My gut says go with the shorter length but I'd like to hear other's opinions on it because not everyone thinks like me and I don't have all the right answers.
If you saw a person in a cosplay of a character with super long hair, which would you rather see?
Shorter, nicer, inaccurate hair or Longer, ratty, but accurate hair?

shorter, because anyone who complains about inaccuracy due to longer hair is probably an asshole not worthy of your time
